Reciprocation of What? (July 20, 2026)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 3:25 PM

This week’s Steadfast:

Maybe you had a childhood toy that took your voice and sent it back distorted and amplified. Small choices work the same way in Proverbs 3:34-35 — God reciprocates what we put out into the world, amplifying our foolishness so we see it clearly, or honoring our wisdom in ways that matter eternally.

Be the Mouser God Made You (July 13, 2026)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 12:00 AM

Tonight’s Steadfast:

When we try to live by “Don’t Be Evil,” we find that we end up being evil in the end. There’s a better way.

Don’t Be Evil Won’t Avoid Evil

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 12:13 AM
My column this week:

“Don’t Be Evil.” If you’ve followed the tech industry long enough, you know that used to be Google’s motto. Whatever happened to that Google? We could ask that of our attempts at mere avoidance of evil, too.

"Don't Be Evil" Leads to Evil (July 6, 2026)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 5:20 PM

This week’s Steadfast:

The Country Music of Your Prayers (August 24, 2025)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 10:30 PM

Sunday night’s message:

We often walk into church feeling as though we should polish up our pain and act like everything is under control. Psalm 10 gives us a different perspective, making room for the days when evil seems to prosper, God feels distant, and honest faith sounds more broken than triumphant.

Sunday Sermon

The Gold Palm Branch Illusion (March 24, 2024)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 10:30 PM

This week’s sermon:

Sin makes us sick over and over, yet we keep charging right back to the buffet—unlike food poisoning, which at least teaches us to stay away from the contaminated food. That’s the human struggle Jesus faces head-on when He teaches us to pray “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” in Matthew 6:13.

What God Opposes (September 11, 2023)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 5:16 PM

Tonight’s Steadfast:

King David reminds us about how God feels about evil — and by seeing that, we’re challenged and encouraged about where we want to be and who we are.

Sunday Sermon

Waiting for God, Not Godot (July 10, 2022)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 5:30 PM

Sunday night’s message:

The familiar verse “the righteous will live by his faith” is quoted multiple times in the New Testament to remind us of God’s grace through faith. But, it’s point doesn’t stop there — it also assures us of God’s faithfulness in times of trouble.

Sunday Sermon

So Many Questions (July 3, 2022)

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 12:24 PM

Sunday night’s message:

Like Habakkuk, we often wonder why God leaves us waiting in the midst of things that just aren’t how they should be. Why does evil prosper? Why does God allow his people to suffer? How do we process these things?
