Voting
By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 5:02 AM
Municipal elections are always disappointing; it never seems like there is enough to vote on to make it worth one's while to come in. Take today: there was some construction at the church where my precinct is, so I had to walk a ways to the entrance, then wait while they looked up my record and so on. It probably took five minutes from the car until I received my ballot. I then went to the Vote-o-Matic and was pushing my ballot into the ballot box less than one minute later. sigh
At least I got one of those nice “I Voted” stickers out of the deal.

Re: Voting
I didn’t get a sticker!
Re: Voting
I’ve never gone to a polling station in my life. Absentee voting is the way of the future.
Re: Voting
Makes you wonder about those guys who stood in line for a dozen hours last November, huh? Municipal elections always seem to be popularity contests anyway…but maybe they all are.
Re: Voting
Well, Blake, this political cynic says they aren’t even good popularity contests, since I remain convinced the selection is a complete setup from the start. Did you know W and Kerry are cousins?
Re: Voting
Kevin: Ah, but that means being stickerless too! I like checking for hanging chads.
Blake: I think you are right about it being merely popularity contents. I skipped over the school board portion of the ballot (three votes, IIRC) and just dealt with the proposition (capital expenditure sales tax).
Ed: Somehow I have doubts that Dubya and Kerry are exactly happy about that fact.
Re: Voting
I did get a sticker. I also have out smarted the people handing out things at the door. I go in the back way at the school and don’t have to listen to their mouth run or take their cards.
Re: Voting
Didn’t know they were cousins, but knew both Kerry and Bush were in the same “Secret Society” while in college together.
