I Love "Buy It Now"

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 2:15 AM

A Single Item. I love eBay's “Buy It Now” function. I just bought an item I've been looking for years for, and I “won” it for just $4 plus a couple bucks in shipping. I'll write about what I ordered tomorrow. Of course, if you want to read through my comments and figure out what it was, that'd be 25 tasty points. It relates to something I've talked about in the comments of the last few days. It's sad, but true that you will likely be unable to guess this. There are at least two hints in this paragraph, however.

Get Testy. As a side note, here's a question for y'all. I have my new CMS stable enough that I think I can start using it. It is missing a lot of features I want before I open up the code, such as trackbacks and multiple site support, but trackbacks are the only thing that would be missing as compared to the present asisaid. Do you think I should set up a beta asisaid and ask for some testers or just try it out here and see what happens?

RE: I Love

You chose “bucks” and “tasty” where you could have used other words and you’ve mentioned Santa recently. Clearly, you have won a reindeer cookbook.

:P

Or, if I’m going to make a serious guess, it would be Christianity and Plurality by Platinga.

(My other half serious guess would be a Metallica CD, but I don’t see you as the Metallica type…)

RE: I Love

Kevin, don’t laugh about eating reindeer. That is merely a domesticated caribou, and I’ve eaten both in the form of smoked sausage. It’s a common grocery item in larger Alaskan cities like Anchorage. Yum yum!

RE: I Love

I’ve eaten plenty reindeer, myself. It’s good meat. Just not too common in the lower 48.

RE: I Love

Kevin, re post 1… yes, clearly. ;-) I’m firing up the pit tomorrow, want some Rudolph burgers?

Concerning post two, Plantinga was a good guess, but wasn’t correct. I’m curious how you came to the conclusion of a Metallica CD… was that from the link to Josiah’s response to David’s post on Metallica? You continue to seem to be good at nailing my associations with music (i.e. for instance, Evanescence) — you are quite right that I am not the Metallica type. :-)

Ed: Ick! I stick to beef, chicken, turkey, pork, fish and shellfish myself.

I think it was because you said “Sad but true” in your post and Metallica has a song named that.

excerpt from post: “It’s sad, but true that you will likely be unable to guess this.”

I thought the same thing, because I thought you might be checking Metallica out to see what I was talking about on my blog.

I also see Kevin knows his Metallica. :-)

RE: I Love

Indeed, David. :-) Clearly, despite its release six years before Sixpence’s “Sad But True,” I think Metallica must have stolen the name from a young Matt Slocum.
