Okay Tim, you said we could google your site only (and ed’s by association though you doubted that’d be much help). So…you mentioned in a comment to Flip that “Neruda is not far off, if you go by what has been discussed on this blog.” So I googled your site for Neruda and came up with a post on November 23 wherein you state, “…I could read stuff like Pablo Neruda’s poetry and Jorge Borge’s short stories in their original tongue.” So I searched your site for Borge (and Jorge and Jorge Borge, yada yada yada) and came up with…squat! Hmmm. Well, I’m still going to go with Borge as the author even though I seem to have run out of leads on exactly what it is he authored (aside from short stories) given the research constraints.

Wow, Jason, you are working hard at this! Borges is correct, I think that deserves 5 pts. I’m not sure what to say to do next. If you did a Borges search on Google, you’d find the result in the first five… so that wouldn’t be any good, now would it?

Well, by that same argument Tim, one could then use Yahoo or some other engine becuase you didn’t explicitly state “no search engines.” However, taking your statement and running in that direction I poked around. While I still haven’t found anything conclusive I do have an educated guess.
On encyclopedia.com I ran a search for Jorge Borge. The article contained a list of his works. This was at the end…”Labyrinths (1962) is a collection of translated works, and Collected Fictions (1998) contains his complete stories in translation.” Since you said the excerpts were a translation and a fiction, I would therefore surmise you pulled them from “Labyrinths.”

Doh! I misspoke. I meant to say “Collected Fictions” rather than “Labyrinths.”

Ah, I’ll be clearer next time. You are welcome to use any specific online source other than a search engine that searches all the web (i.e. encyclopedias, etc.).
OK, I checked and the work in question is in Labyrinths. I’ll give you five more points for that. But, I’m offering 10 pts. to whomever can figure out what work this originates from (that is, both of those are obviously collections of works rather than an individual work).
