NASA Tidbits

I just read that the House is asking NASA to delay work on the Space Plane. Why would you delay this project when the existing project is quickly becoming antiquated and it was thought that the Space Plane wouldn't be done soon enough as-is?

Perhaps this will help pave the way to the rumored revival of the Apollo Space Program. According to this article from awhile back, NASA is considering an improved capsule as a stop gap before the Space Plane gets done. A side effect of such a plan would be that the U.S. could return to the moon in the not-so-distant future… something the shuttle (and the space plane in the future) isn't able to do. At any rate, perhaps this request by the House will encourage a new Apollo program. That's kind of exciting, I think.

And speaking of NASA, I had an idea on how to solve their budget problems. One word: sponsorship (click “Read More” for an example). What do you think? For as much as mere SuperBowls can draw in sponsorships, this kind of out-of-this-world advertising ought to be able to get an astronomical rate!
