What do we do when Christ calls? Do we react by seeking to hide from his call or to wonder at it? In this message from Matthew 2:1-12, 16-19, we examine the responses Herod and the Wisemen made to God's calling.

Sermon Notes

“From this we may gather that man's nature, so to speak, is a perpetual factory of idols. Man's mind, full as it is of pride and boldness, dares to imagine a god according to its own capacity; as it sluggishly plods, indeed is overwhelmed with the crassest ignorance, it conceives an unreality and an empty appearance as God.” — John Calvin

Like Herod, we often:

  1. Fail to rejoice in __________ _________________
  2. Hide our real intent behind “__________ _______________.”
  3. Take _______________ ________________ to protect our plan.

How can we keep ourselves focused instead on Christ's plan in the coming year?
