What Kind of Thinker Are you?

By Timothy R Butler | Posted at 10:03 PM

Christopher came across this quiz on the BBCi website. Mine fits me pretty well, I think — better than I would have thought a 36 question quiz could do.

You are an Existential Thinker Like existential thinkers, Leonardo questioned man's role in the universe. Many of his paintings explored the relationship between man and God. Existential thinkers:
  • Like to spend time thinking about philosophical issues such as “What is the meaning of life?”
  • Try to see beyond the 'here and now', and understand deeper meanings
  • consider moral and ethical implications of problems as well as practical solutions
Other Existential Thinkers include
The Buddha, Gandhi, Plato, Socrates, Martin Luther King Careers which suit Existential Thinkers include
Philosopher, Religious leader, Head of state, Artist, Writer

So, how about you? Take the quiz and post (or link to) your results. :-)

RE: What Kind of Thinker Are you?

According to that survey, I am a linguistic, interpersonal, musical, existential thinker. And all 4 do fit me very, very well.

In as much as the quizz can be accurate, (and it is a bit of fun after all), it would be interesting to see if the existential/interpersonal features more prominently amongst Christian bloggers and if this could be indicative of the impact of our relationship with God on our relationships with others and on our worldview. I say this because so far, every Christian blogger who has posted their quizz results has interpersonal and/or existential somewhere, including me. But then, Christian bloggers tend to be certain types of thinking Christians anyway!!

In any case, I enjoy your blog.

—saint, who according to Quizzila, is the book of Romans, although I really really wanted to be Ephesians

I think it’s more likely that bloggers are more likely to be existential & interpersonal than that Christians are. I submit that all these different types of intelligence were created by God for the good of humanity. Just like we need people of different gifts & talents in order to be healthy, we need different types of thinkers.

I’m not sure I’d even rate at all - I rarely think….it hurts too much. :-)

Kevin: You are quite the renaissance man, huh?

Saint: I would imagine you are on to something. I would guess that most Christians would be prone to at least some existential thinking (hopefully!).

Darren: Did the thinking on the test hurt? ;-)

Josiah: Ah, Johnny Morris is a good fellow to be like. :-) If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the owner of Bass Pro Shops, Big Cedar Lodge, Tracker Boats and a variety of other nice stuff. If your interested I did a post on some of those nice things here: http://asisaid.com/journal/1057726692.html (I’m not a hunter/fisher/etc. so a sporting goods store has to be pretty impressive to draw me — Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World does the trick).
