New Graphic.

Well, isn't this exciting. When asisaid.com first launched, I ran out of time working on a few scripting issues for the updated Tim's Journal, and so I just used my old Tim's Site “logo” modified with the name as I said on it. Well, I finally took the time to give asisaid.com it's very own logo. Waddya think? The logos are below for your perusal. :-)

First graphical logo for the site (circa Summer 2001):

Pre-asisaid.com logo (circa April 2002):

Old logo (circa March 2003):

New logo (circa right now!):

So, which one's best? Yeah, I know, don't quit my day job. ;-)

RE: New Graphic.

Hey! You can’t pick that one! ;-) I admit I’m kind of attached to the little Tux the Penguin in the logo, perhaps I should add him back sometime. It certainly was a simpler design, which may have been good.

RE: New Graphic.

I would like the latest one best, but I really would prefer to see the top-layer lettering with a higher contrasting hue. Giving the “i” it’s own color is cool, but the whole lowercase label needs to be a bit brighter, and probably of a different color, too. I have this weird notion that the main graphic of any page should be easily read. Subtlety is for less important window-dressing.

Hey, you get a whole dime’s worth this time.

Wow! That was quick! Right after I posted my last comment — PING! — the last logo was changed. How’d you do that?

RE: New Graphic.

Very nice. It has sort of an aura to it.

RE: New Graphic.

Whoa, hey! My browser must have been caching things. Until reading Ed’s comments, I was scratching my head wondering what the difference was between the March 2003 and present. They looked exactly the same. I like the new one better than the March 2003, though I still like the first one best. If we’re being brutal, I think the TM is a bit cheesy & would leave off the middle initial.

RE: New Graphic.

Thanks for the thoughts Ed, I’m guessing your comments were really applying to the March 2003 one? Sounds like you had the same caching issue as Kevin. I don’t notice that anymore since I keep caching turned off…

Thanks Le Renard.. :-)

Kevin, thanks for the updated thoughts. You didn’t like my ultra-subtle changes to the March 2003 one? ;-) Seriously thanks for your updated input. I put the “TM” on to set the record that I’m claiming asisaid as my own (as of right now, the USPTO shows no claim to the name), although maybe I’ll make it a wee bit smaller so it isn’t so noticeable. As far as the middle initial, I was kinda thinking the same thing. That’s what I normally go by, so its good in that way, although on a personal site a bit more informal is kinda nice.

RE: New Graphic.

The muted TM is better. “Timothy R. Butler” just sounded so serious. Maybe even a bit pretentious. Now, if that’s where you want to go with asisaid, maybe you should put it back. But, I don’t typically think of you as pretentious, so it looked a bit out of place to me. :)

RE: New Graphic.

Thanks for the thoughts Kevin, I really like it better this way, so I’m glad you made the suggestions you did. I actually didn’t even realized I put down “Timothy R. Butler” until after I saved the image (mental cruise control at work), and after I did I thought perhaps it would be better. But really, I think you are right — it did look pretentious. I already have a more formal soapbox at Open for Business, so it’s best not to make asisaid feel too stuffy.

At any rate, I think I might make some more changes. Not to the logo itself, but perhaps the site design. I’ve had this design for a year and some change now, and I’m starting to get fidgety. Perhaps I’ll have to fix that sometime when I should be doing some work instead. ;-)

RE: New Graphic.

Heh. I know that fidgety feeling. It’s everything I can do to not give TSN another overhaul. I think I’m going to just have to start a new blog that is nothing but me playing with stuff.

RE: New Graphic.

I was in the same quagmire that Kevin was in. You don’t know how many precious seconds, nay, minutes that I spent studying those two graphics to figure out what in tarnation the difference was. A simple reload fixed that. I’m glad I came back to check what others were saying.

BTW, I really like the new graphic. I wonder if Tux would fit in the d or something like that. Best of both worlds.
